I've struggled with acne for a lot of my life. When I first started getting acne after high school I didn't know what to do. But as someone who has dabbled in different products for years, I've finally found out what to do and what not to do with acne, as well as products that have worked well for my skin. If you struggle with acne I hope this blog will set you free!
MAKE WATER A BIG THING IN YOUR LIFE!
Benefits of drinking water for acne:
1.Hydrates skin cells
2. Flushes out toxins
3. Makes your skin soft
4. Rejuvenates the skin
5. Reduces inflammation and puffiness
DONT POP PIMPLES!
Trust me, I know how hard it can be not to pop that big annoying pimple that seems to be ruining your life. But popping pimples lead to scarring and may also lead to more acne growth. Just don't do it babe!
REDUCE THE AMOUNT OF MAKE UP YOU WEAR
Your skin loves when you let it breathe! Wearing make up too much can clog your pores and block the release of sebum which may result in more acne. DO NOT fall asleep with make up on and always wash your face before you get in the bed.
CHANGE YOUR PILLOW CASES
Wash your pillow cases weekly to prevent acne. If your sensitive to breakouts, you should also be cautious about the type of detergents you use.
RETINA SKIN CREAM:
I started using Retina after a popular influencer (who also struggled with severe acne for years) mentioned it on social media. I was unsure about the product but decided to try it out and...IT WORKED! I noticed a HUGE difference in my skin within a couple of months and I've been using it ever since.
Cons of Retina:
1. At first, this cream will make your skin peel, burn a little, and itch. Although this may sound bad, this cream works and your skin will get use to the side effects.
2. This cream is a bit expensive and you will need to see a doctor for the prescription. But, there are ways around this!
If you do not have the funds to see a dermatologist or just too busy, follow these simple steps:
CREATE AN ACCOUNT ON WWW.YODERM.COM
Receive access to a dermatologist without making an appointment! Upload pictures of your skin, let your dermatologist know what prescription you want (or let them choose a prescription for you, based on your skin type) and they will send the prescription right over to your nearest pharmacy. The online visit will only cost you $20. You can also get cheap prescriptions through their website. Thank me later!
ST. IVES FACE SCRUB
My all time favorite face scrub! This face scrub is made with 100% natural exfoliants and 100% natural coconut, leaving skin feeling extra smooth and clean. This face scrub has three exfoliation factors: gentle, moderate, and deep; which gives you a chance to pick a scrub based on your skin type. I love using the deep face scrub while on the "Retinae" medication. The deep scrub removes any dead skin which refreshes my skin and leaves it flourishing.
NEUTROGENA PINK GRAPEFRUIT FACE WASH
While I've had great experiences with most Neutrogena products, the "Pink Grapefruit" happens to also be a favorite. Not only is the smell amazing, this face wash clears breakouts, blackheads, oil, and dirt. It also has its' own acid acne medicine within the face wash.
AZTEC INDIAN HEALING CLAY
The "Aztec Indian Healing Clay" is one of the most powerful, 100% natural cleansers in the world. This face mask has no chemicals or added ingredients. It eliminates breakouts by drying out pimples quickly and leaving your pours clean. I use this face mask as a daily cleanser, while also adding apple cider vinegar to create a thick mixture. I leave this pulsating clay on my skin for 15-20 minutes, and the results wow me every time!
